Catherine and Sam’s Heating and Hot and Cold Water System
After moving into their new family home, Catherine and Sam wanted to replace the existing storage heaters and hot water provision with a full central heating system and hot and cold water system as part of a whole house renovation.
Catherine and Sam had decided on the location for the plant room – an easy to access loft area on the top floor in close proximity to the bathrooms. From this point a channel was created up the building to send all of the service pipe work up and down to serve the three floors. The system comprises of column radiators (photos to follow), ATAG system boiler and Evocyl unvented indirect hot water cylinder. The system is set up with hot water priority and weather compensation. This allows the boiler to deliver two different flow temperatures to serve the water and space heating. The hot water is heated using bottom up modulation for quick yet efficient reheating of the hot water and the radiators surface temperature is controlled by a weather compensation sensor which ensures the boiler delivers only what is required to maintain the desired room temperature. This makes the rooms feel comfortable whilst saving energy in comparison to standard on/off controls. A smart installation by Matt which will serve them well for years to come.
