Julia’s Immersion Heater Replacement

Julia’s immersion heater had failed and she needed a replacement.

Julia’s cylinder is old and at some stage they may upgrade their hot water system. In the meantime the immersion heater had failed and needed replacing. Disrupting an older copper cylinder is risky as the torsion applied to the immersion heater housing during removal means it can fracture around that area. A replacement cylinder would then immediately be required. After checking solid cylinder stock availability and Julia informed of the risks we undertook the replacement. For this job we used an incaloy immersion heater as it has anticorrosion properties ideal for hard water areas. All modern immersion heaters are also fitted with high temperature cut out mechanisms to ensure they fail safe.
